Hebe Champion

This was the first ever plant we developed here at Seiont, it was discovered in the water garden at our Garden Centre in 1999 by Neil as a seedling by an old plant of Autumn Glory.

We propagated the original plant up to 200 plants, then left it.....until Dutch nurseryman Willem Sanders visited our nursery during a particularly cold spell. The liners were looking a superb colour of Red/Purple/bronze and seemed to improve as the winter went on. Willem encouraged us to develop further and it was the first plant of our own to achieve PVR status.

10 years on it is an established variety which figures on a lot of nurseries buying lists, due to its reliability and excellent winter colour and hardiness.
It is licensed through Van Vliet new plants who can issue permission across the globe to produce.

We always keep a good stock of plugs and liners available on the nursery site.

Hebe High Voltage

Is the latest variety to be developed at Seiont.

Originally discovered by Neil in a stock bed, this selection, parented by Nicola's Blush, stood out with its good bronzy colouration and resistance to the harsh winter.

The original plant was moved to our trial area, where it flowered the following summer; it had a mass of pale lilac and white flowers on compact spikes. These were distributed evenly across the whole plant.

The single plant stood happily on our trial bed through the winters of 2008 and 2009 without any damage whatsoever.

The first young plants were sampled in 2009 and received excellent feedback from growers and retailers alike.

The first plants will be exclusively available to the retail sector through Mahood/Glendale and Darbys with further availability in early 2015.
