Phormium Back in Black

The final variety of our Trio named after Neil's first ever album purchase !!

This was selected from a later batch. It was immediately identifiable as being special when we first started to multiply it by division, it was most generous with the amount of "pups" obtained from each plant and as trials progressed it showed a true compact / dwarf habit and the darkest of "Black" foliage.

Back In Black has performed far beyond our expectations both in sales and production, where it has proved to be more reliable and even in its habit.

Phormium Black Velvet

This is the first of a trio developed at Seiont by Neil.

Originating from a batch of Phormium tenax Purpureum seedlings, Black Velvet was selected for its distinct colouration. It is the darkest of all the medium to tall growing "Black" selections on the market today, it has a graceful arching habit and shows "flashes" of its silvery underside in the wind.

This variety, now in its third season is selling well throughout The UK and also through France, Spain and Europe where it is marketed by JP Diffusion under the Globe Planter Brand.

We maintain good stocks of plugs and Liners but always order in advance to guarantee supply.

Phormium in the Red

Number two in our trio, this one again was selected from a batch of Phormium tenax Purpureum seedlings, it stood out with its broad, strong, upright spears. The colour is a rich wine red and improves in extremes.

This is in its first year of UK sales and has been well received.

In the Red has been available in Europe though Globe Planter where it has been very successful in the Cold Winters and Summer Heat.
